What's Up This Weekend: Hands-on history lessons, GR Home Show, and hot foods

Warm up your winter weekend with the many events happening in West Michigan.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Every Wednesday, we help you plan your weekend with Grand Rapids Kids — and there are several events to help you heat up your winter.

Winter in the Cabin at Blandford Nature Center is on Saturday. The event allows the whole family to experience Pioneer life in a historic log cabin, including stoking the fire, helping with chores, and learning what life was like in the 1800s. It's happening from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and costs $5 for members and $8 for non-members. You can register on the nature center's website.

The Grand Rapids Remodeling & New Homes Show starts on Friday. It's happening at DeVos Place through Sunday. The hours are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for adults are $10 online and $12 at the door. Kids ages 6 to 14 are $4.

This weekend is also Spicy Saturday at the Downtown Market Grand Rapids. The one-day event features fiery flavors and specials, throughout the market hall. It runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is free.
