Buddy's Pizza is coming to Grand Rapids

The iconic Detroit pizzeria is branching out to the west side.

Buddy's Pizza is bringing Detroit-style pizzas to West Michigan. 

The Detroit-based restaurant is opening a location in Grand Rapids that is set to open in early spring. The new location will also feature Buddy's signature craft beer. 

The Buddy Brew is an American Pale Wheat Ale, which will be on-tap at the restaurant along with other local brews. 

Buddy's pizzas are square-shaped, Sicilian-style pies that have become know as the original Detroit-style pizza. Pepperoni is placed directly on the crust, and those layers are then topped with crumbled cheese and strips of tomato sauce. 

Buddy's has 12 locations around Michigan. The Grand Rapids one with be the 13th and the first in western Michigan. 

They will be moving into a building at 4061 28th Street that used to house Carrabba's Italian Grill.
