15-year-old Paw Paw student arrested after 'credible threat,' guns located in home

This threat is just the latest of many threats made against West Michigan schools since the Parkland, Florida shooting that killed 17 people on Feb. 14.

According to authorities in Van Buren County, a 15-year-old Paw Paw student has been arrested following an investigation determined he made a 'credible threat' to the school.

Van Buren Sheriff's Office says reports of the threat were on Sunday, March 18. The threat was directed to Paw Paw High School.

The school's administration was alerted to the threat and investigation and a safety search of the school was conducted.

The district's high school posted the closure to its Facebook page just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday and would remain closed on Monday.

A search warrant of the student's home was done and police seized guns and other evidence. He was arrested and taken to the Allegan County Juvenile Center.

More details are to be released following his arraignment.
