Grand Rapids Public Schools make key decisions on superintendent search

They say are looking at candidates nationwide as well as local candidates. The annual salary range is $195,000-$230,000.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The search for a new Grand Rapids Public Schools Superintendent continues.

The district announced the job will be posted this week and won't close until March 1.

They say are looking at candidates nationwide as well as local candidates.

"We have a lot of internal people as well as external people in the greater Grand Rapids area that would likely qualify and meet these criteria so we're going to leave the process open," says John Helmholdt with GRPS.

The annual salary range is $195,000-$230,000.

"You are not just running a school or a school district, you are really running a large enterprise that's one of the largest in the region," says Helmholdt.

Six candidates will be interviewed on March 16th, then three finalists will be interviewed on March 25th.

The district hopes to make an announcement on the new Superintendent in April.
