Dr. Ron Gorman will serve as the interim superintendent starting July 1.

The Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education voted to appoint Dr. Ron Gorman the interim superintendent while the district continues its search for a permanent person.

He is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Pre-K-12 instructional support.

GRPS has been searching for a superintendent since Weatherall Neal announced her retirement in September. They had narrowed their search down to two candidates in April, but decided to go with neither, starting the search over

Gorman holds a Bachelor of Arts from Aquinas College, a Master of Educational Leadershipfrom Michigan State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. He lives in Grand Rapids with his two children and his wife, Melissa Gorman, who is also an educator with GRPS.
