Grand Rapids man found dead outside of a friend's home

Authorities say Gregory Gietzen was found in the driveway of a Comstock Park home last Saturday.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — Authorities in Kent County are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man who was found in the driveway of a friend's home.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched to a home in Alpine Township around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 20.

Gregory Gietzen, 57, from Grand Rapids was found in the driveway of his friend's home on Bekinshire Drive NW. Gietzen was last seen Saturday night at a restaurant near West River Drive and 4 Mile Road in Comstock Park. Sgt. Joel Roon with the Kent County Sheriff's Department says Gietzen and his friend had been out together earlier in the night, before his friend returned home. Roon says Gietzen got a ride to his friend's house sometime after 8:30 p.m., but he never made it inside. He was found dead in the driveway the next morning with some minor injuries to his face.

Gietzen’s death is currently under investigation and pending results of an autopsy. Anyone who had any contact with Gietzen after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening is asked to contact the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, Investigative Division at 616-632-6125.
