ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — A body was found in Lake Michigan off of Silver Beach, the Berrien County Sheriff's Office reports.
Police were called to the beach in St. Joseph on Wednesday at 4:19 p.m.
There, officials retrieved a body from the water. Attempts to save the man's life were unsuccessful.
Law enforcement notified the family and identified the man as 69-year-old Douglas Charles Greyerbiehl from St. Joseph Township.
An autopsy was performed on Thursday at Western Michigan University, and while those results aren't complete, law enforcement said every indication is he drowned.
Foul play is not suspected.
