GREENVILLE, Mich. — A busy West Michigan highway shut down Saturday morning for a fatal crash.
Around 4 a.m., police were called to the crash scene on M-57 (also known as 14 Mile Road) and Old 14 Mile Road. That's just west of Greenville in Oakfield Township.
Police say a vehicle went off the road, hit several driveway embankments, rolled several times and then caught fire.
The driver was not able to be extricated from the car and died on scene, officers say.
Both directions of the highway were shut down for hours. Several fire departments were called in to help with the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
