CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into a small aircraft emergency landing Wednesday morning in rural Calhoun County.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office said deputies learned of an aircraft emergency in Clarendon Township.
That's where a 54-year-old pilot, a man from Moab, Utah, noticed his plane was malfunctioning, so he landed in a cornfield.
He wasn't hurt and told deputies he recently bought the 1958 Mooney aircraft in Grand Rapids. He was en route to an airfield near Bryan, Ohio when the engine trouble happened.
Law enforcement used their drone to find the landing site.
The FAA will conduct its own investigation into what happened, the sheriff's office said.
