Confused robber thought Grand Rapids flooring business had gold bars

If you're looking for a place to rob, choosing a business with the word "gold" makes sense right? And to the robbers delight -- stacks of gold bars could be seen from the outside.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Sunday morning, around 2 a.m. a man broke into Old to Gold, a flooring business. After shattering a window with a rock and destroying a filing cabinet, the robber found a stack of what he thought were real gold bars.

"We're assuming this guy probably walked past our store and thought, wow, someone probably forgot to put these gold bars away," says Nick Butler, who works at Old to Gold.

"Here is one of the gold bars right here. They are stress bars. We pass them out on our estimates because our motto is stress-free flooring," says Butler.

The robber ended up leaving the store empty-handed.

"I think this individual didn't have a lot of intelligence, I think this falls under you can't fix stupid," says Butler.
