A Portage man was taken to the hospital Wednesday February 28, 2018, after crashing into the Meijer gas station on South Westnedge.
Police say it happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. when the 51-year-old man likely suffered a medical event while pulling into the parking lot, which caused him to hit the building.
The driver was the only one inside the SUV, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. No one else was injured in the crash.
Because the building was severely damaged in the crash Portage's Community Development Department helped in the investigation.
