GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man is dead after drowning in a Grand Rapids area park Saturday, the Kent County Sheriff's Office reports.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Deputies were called to Versluis Park, just off of East Beltline, for a water emergency.
Investigators say the man went into the water, beyond the swim area and did not resurface.
While Kent County's dive team was on their way to the park, a Good Samaritan recovered the man from the water.
Life-saving measures were taken, but the man died, police say.
The man was a 44-year-old from Kentwood. His name has not yet been released by police.
