He will be remembered as a loving father, devoted friend, mentor and dutiful community servant, troopers say.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan State Police announced the loss of one of their own.

Sgt. Matt Rogers was found unresponsive in his home on Sunday morning, troopers said in a post on X

Rogers was a graduate of the 113th Trooper Recruit School serving at the Rockford Post, Wayland Post, the Special Operations Division's Aviation Unit, and the Grand Rapids Post. He was recently transferred back to the Special Operations Division's Aviation Unit as a pilot, officials say.

He will be remembered as a loving father, devoted friend, mentor and dutiful community servant, the post says.

"So sorry for your loss. A man known by many in our Kent County community. Grieving alongside you," the Kent County Sheriff's Office responded to the post

Funeral arrangements will be set at the Pederson Funeral Home of Rockford.
