Suspect connected to deaths of Kent County couple confirmed dead

Shortly after investigators arrived at the house, they developed a possible suspect.

UPDATE: The suspect has been confirmed dead. Wyoming Police and the Kent County Sheriff's Office say despite efforts for a peaceful surrender, the man inside the apartment was found dead around 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning. He has been identified as the primary suspect in the apparent homicide in Spencer Township earlier on Saturday.

SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man and a woman were found dead inside their home in Spencer Township.

Shortly after the couple was found dead, investigators developed a possible suspect who was at an apartment in Ramblewood Apartments in Wyoming.

The Wyoming Police Department attempted to make contact with the person who refused to cooperate and leave the building.

The suspect held three people hostage inside the apartment. They were the suspect's wife and two children, ages 4 and 2. All of the hostages were eventually released and are talking with investigators.

The home where the couple was found is on Rooksby Street near Wickert Avenue in Spencer Township in northern Kent County.

Joel Roon with the sheriff's office said the deaths are being investigated as suspicious. Police said it appears to be a violent death.

The call came in to law enforcement late Saturday morning, and investigators arrived around 11:40 a.m.

Kent County deputies responded to house after a friend of the couple went to their house and found one of the bodies. When police arrived, they found the other person.

After receiving a search warrant, investigators starting processing the scene.
