MUSKEGON, Mich. — It's a story that made national headlines last month, a kennel fire on the Lakeshore that killed 30 dogs.

Thursday, April 12 a memorial service was held for the pet owners in Muskegon County. Among those who attended was Janet Rehfus, the owner of Storm's Ahead Kennel which caught fire on March 30.

"That Friday morning making the phone calls to each and every one of you, certainly a nightmare that I never imagined that I would have to do," says Rehfus.

Firefighters are not certain of the cause but they have determined that the fire was an accident.

"I will say again...there is not enough words that I can say about how bad I feel," says Rehfus.

The memorial service was held at Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon.
