2 teenagers seriously hurt in Sparta Township crash

The head-on collision occurred at 12 Mile Road and Fruit Ridge Avenue shortly before 7 a.m.

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Three people are being treated at the hospital for injuries after a crash in Sparta Township early Wednesday, Dec. 5.

The head-on collision occurred at 12 Mile Road and Fruit Ridge Avenue shortly before 7 a.m.

Kent County deputies say a northbound Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Spring Lake, lost control on the slippery road surface and crossed into the southbound lane. That's where she was hit by a Ford Edge driven by a 56-year-old woman from Newaygo.

The driver of the Cavalier and the 17-year-old boy in her car were taken to the hospital with serious

injuries. The 56-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital but with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
