Calgaro was sentenced Barry County for second degree murder in the death of Matthew Morin. He will serve this sentence consecutively to the sentence he received in Van Buren County for a probation violation, in 2016.

In exchange for the no contest plea to second degree murder, prosecutors agreed to drop the less serious charges of unlawfully driving away of a motor vehicle, identity theft and possession of a financial transaction device, as well as the habitual offender notice. Second degree murder carries a maximum of life in prison.
