The Lakers are back: GVSU president, alumni help students move-in

The entire GVSU community helps to move in new students each year.

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The day has finally come: Grand Valley State University students are moving into campus for the year.

The university's president, Thomas J. Haas and hundreds of alumni, students, faculty and staff members will help move in more than 6,000 students onto campus August 20 through 22. President Haas and his wife, Marcia, will also be serving ice cream to families and new students on Wednesday, August 22.

August 27 is the first day of the semester at GVSU. There are a variety of welcome events happening on the Allendale campus leading up to that day, including a start of the year celebration welcoming students, a dedication ceremony, Grand Valley's first annual Live Eat RecFest and Campus Life Night.
