Motorcyclist suffers serious head injuries after crash in Mason County

A 65-year-old motorcyclist has been hospitalized after a crash in Pere Marquette Township.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - One man is in the hospital following a motorcycle crash in Mason County Monday afternoon.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just after 2 p.m. on US-10 east of Nelson Road.

Carol Wilson, a 77-year-old Mears womanm was driving west on US-10. She was attempting a left turn into a business driveway when she turned into the path of Pierre Marcoux, a 65-year-old Ludington man, on a motorcycle.

Marcoux was ejected from his motorcycle and onto the pavement. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. He was later flown to a Grand Rapids hospital for further treatment.

Neither alcohol, drugs or speed appear to be factors int he crash. Authorities do say Marcoux was not wearing a helmet.

The incident remains under investigation.
