Grandville holds off FHC, 37-36

Grandville led Forest Hills Central 30-7 in the first half, before holding off a late rally to win 37-36.

For the second week in a row, Forest Hills Central rallied from a double digit deficit.

But for the second week in a row it wasn't enough as Grandville held on to win, 37-36.

With 3:45 left in the 2nd quarter Jake Paganelli scored a rushing touchdown from the 1-yard line to put the Bulldogs ahead 30-7.

Just before the half Rangers quarterback Luke Majick found senior Tate Hallock in the endzone for the score that made it 30-14 at the half.

The score stayed that way until the 4th quarter when Majick converted a 4th and 7 with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Sarjeant. The Rangers two-point conversion was successful and that made it a one score game.

Cam Deines scored on a 3-yard run with 3:58 left in the 4th quarter, after another two-point conversion the score was tied, 30-30. Less than a minute later Cam Terry would score his fourth rushing touchdown of the night for the final score for Grandville.

The Rangers would score with 1:36 left in regulation when Majick threw a 30-yard TD to Jimmy Scholler and a failed conversion made the score 37-36. FHC wouldn't recover the onside kick but they would force and recover a fumble before turning the ball over on downs and ending the game.

Grandville begins OK red play next week with a matchup against Grand Haven, while the Rangers face crosstown rival Forest Hills Northern in an OK White showdown.
