Muskegon storms back from early deficit to beat East Grand Rapids

Muskegon stormed back from a 14 point deficit to beat East Grand Rapids 49-21.

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - East Grand Rapids took leads of 14-0 and 21-7 against Muskegon on Friday night. That wasn't enough as Muskegon scored 42 straight points to win 49-21.

The Pioneers built the 14-0 lead on a touchdown run from John Shelton and a Jalen Broussard to Josh Sheridan pass.

A touchdown run from Cameron Martinez on fourth down cut the Big Red deficit to 14-7 after 1 quarter. The Pioneers extended the lead to 21-7 before Muskegon started making big plays on the ground.

Demario Robinson(77) and Hyrosha Wilson(35) scored to tie the game at 21 at the half.

Martinez 53-yard touchdown in the third quarter gave the Big Reds their first lead 28-21. Wilson's 58 yard score made it 35-21. Jeremiah Lockhart scored from 73 yards and Quenten reynolds 28 yard touchdown catch from Martinez finished the scoring as Muskegon rolled 49-21.
