GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of West Michigan Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph paired with dry conditions and low humidity are a dangerous cocktail for fire conditions.

The impacted areas include Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton and Ingham counties.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

You're asked to be careful with any activities that could potentially lead to a wildfire.

That includes camping, using outdoor grills, smoking materials, using chainsaws and all-terrain vehicles all have the potential to throw a spark and ignite a dangerous and destructive fire.

Burn restrictions are likely in place. You can check the latest on burn permits on the DNR's website here.
