A tornado touched down in Taylor for two minutes during Tuesday night's severe thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado touched down at 12:44 a.m. and lasted for two minutes, said Karl Ziomek, director of communications and marketing for Taylor. He said the National Weather Service confirmed it was a tornado Wednesday afternoon.
The weather service categorized it as a EF-0 tornado, which has winds that range between 65 and 85 m.p.h.
The damage was done at a strip mall at the corner of Pardee Road and Eureka Road across from the Southland Center, Ziomek said.
"It took the roof off of that vacant, old Starbucks," he said. "It also blew the sign off the Comerica bank that's right there."
It also damaged a few other buildings and some trees. There are no reports of any injuries.
