The Kent County Sheriff's office is looking for people to join their team. Stephen Beng is a corrections officer in the Kent County jail. Karen Barrose is a school resource officer in Kentwood. They joined us to talk about the many benefits of working for the Sheriff's Office and Kent County.
The Sheriff’s Office is a vital part of ensuring the safety and quality of life for all residents. Deputies Beng and Barrose described the four Sheriff's Office departments and described what each one does to help maintain a safe and prosperous community. The obvious departments include Community Safety and Law Enforcement and Correctional Facility Operations. There is also Community Engagement and Diversity and Training and Professional Development.
Both Beng and Barrose said they were drawn to careers in law enforcement and they get a great deal of satisfaction in helping others. They said the internal culture at the Sheriff's Office is positive, with a focus on keeping both the community and the members of their team safe and healthy.
