Sponsored: Los Angeles filmmaker returns home to West Michigan for next project

Writer and director Seejon Czaplicki grew up in Hudsonville and his film career took him to Los Angeles

Writer and director Seejon Czaplicki grew up in Hudsonville and his film career took him to Los Angeles. Ten years later, Czaplicki says it was a longing for home that brought him back to West Michigan, where he will shoot his latest project, CUL DE SAC Movie.  It's a story about a couple who gives up life in the city and returns to the suburbs to start a family. The film chronicles their struggle with infertility and failed dreams. Lead actor, T'ai Hartley, says he was attracted to the story but also the chance to work once again with Czaplicki. They've completed several projects together.  The CUL DE SAC Movie will be shot at locations throughout West Michigan. The opportunity to see a film being produced on the streets of Grand Rapids is not as frequent as it once was.  That's because Michigan stopped offering film incentives to lure movie-makers to the state.  There's an effort underway to re-instate the tax incentives but Czaplicki says he would make the film here with or without them. He says Michigan has all the resources needed to bring his vision to life.  Czaplicki said there is a need for extras during a church scene.  He's looking for 150 people to fill the pews.
