Sponsored: Pine Rest offers Master’s Level Internship to meet the demand for mental health therapists

There is a shortage of mental health therapists right now, and Pine Rest is doing something about it.

There is a shortage of mental health therapists right now, and Pine Rest is doing something about it.  The Christian mental health agency is offering a Master's Level Internship Program to help psychologists, social workers and professional counselors increase their knowledge and expertise and bring new clinicians to in-demand roles in West Michigan.  Pine Rest Social Worker Jean Holthaus said there are several reason for the lack of therapists.  She said the demand for therapy is increasing.  According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, that growth is projected to continue for at least the next decade.  Holthaus said many therapists are reaching retirement age and there are not enough internship programs available to up-and-coming professionals.  She explained that the one-year internship is required for completion of a master's degree.  In response to this deficit, Pine Rest is starting a new one-year internship program, providing 16 customizable internship positions, available in a variety of settings (inpatient, outpatient, psychological testing, residential and school settings.)  Applications will be accepted through the beginning of May, or when all spots have been filled.  For more information, visit www.pinerest.org/masters

Other mental health education programs offered by Pine Rest for medical learners and clinical therapists:
• Psychiatry Residency & Fellowships
• APP Psychiatry Training Program
• Nursing Student Academy
• Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship
• Psychology Predoctoral Internship
