GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michael Behrens joins the 13 ON YOUR SIDE Weather team, debuting Saturday evening, April 11. An Indiana native, Michael is no stranger to the Midwest having worked in both Fort Wayne, Indiana and Saginaw, Mich. prior to his most recent contributions at TEGNA sister station KYTX CBS 19 in Tyler, Texas.
“I am very happy to call West Michigan and 13 ON YOUR SIDE my new home. West Michigan presents many weather challenges and I can’t wait to tackle them all,” Michael said. “Growing up in Indiana, and previously having lived and worked in Michigan, I have missed the Midwest and I am excited to make a homecoming to the region!”
“Michael is intelligent and driven. His Midwest background and experience will serve our greater Grand Rapids audiences well and we’re excited for him to join our team at 13 ON YOUR SIDE,” said 13 ON YOUR SIDE President and General Manager Dan Baylog.
From being afraid of storms as a child to chasing them as an adult, Michael has kept an eye on the sky for his entire life. He has a passion for learning all he can about weather, predicting it, and communicating it to audiences at home.

Michael is a graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geography with concentrations in Professional Track Meteorology and Geographic Information Sciences. He graduated cum laude with an honors diploma from the Ball State Honors College in May 2016. Michael was also a member of the Ball State Storm Chase Team for his entire time at the University, participating in multiple storm chase events and gaining his HAM radio license. So he will for sure be prepared for whatever West Michigan weather throws at him!
