The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has named the 13 ON YOUR SIDE weather team as a 2020 Weather-Ready National Ambassador of Excellence.
“Not only does 13 ON YOUR SIDE provide weather forecasts and warning through their traditional broadcasts and social media channels, they work tirelessly to promote weather awareness, weather safety and disaster preparedness across West Michigan,” the NWS said in their post. “13 ON YOUR SIDE is committed to continuous outreach in public safety and preparedness and is a local innovator in advancing hazardous weather communication through a combination of simple graphics and plain language.”
This is the fourth year that the National Weather Service has given the WRN Ambassadors of Excellence award. It is given to groups that help build a nation that is ready, responsive and resilient to the impacts of extreme weather and water events.
