Kiara joined 13 ON YOUR SIDE in January of 2024 as a multi-skilled journalist/reporter. She is an alumna of Howard University (HU, You Know!), where she graduated early after spending three and a half years reporting on stories happening in the Washington, D.C. community. Kiara was the Howard University Association of Black Journalists (HUABJ) chapter president during her time in college and is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Throughout her time at Howard University, Kiara had a variety of internships and experiences. She’s interned for NBC’s Today Show in New York City, CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? and CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell in Washington, D.C. She was also an investigative researcher for NBCU Academy and a 2022 White House Correspondents’ Association Scholar.
Kiara loves telling stories that uplift and support her community. Her goal in pursuing journalism is to connect with people, share their stories and highlight the important things in her community. She aims to seek truth, valuable information, unique perspectives and find mutual respect and collaboration when there are differences of opinion.
Growing up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Kiara is used to the friendly Midwest. She loves the cold and the West Michigan winter! Most of all, she’s excited to explore all Michigan has to offer and to meet the amazing people in her community!
When she’s not at work, you can find her hanging out with friends and family, binging a new TV series, exploring new restaurants in the area or traveling!
