Before you stand in line for your popcorn this weekend, here are our reviews of the weekend's new releases!

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

SpongeBob SquarePants is getting another big-screen adventure with the SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water - not to be confused with the SpongeBob Squarepants movie, from 2004. In this one, SpongeBob goes on a quest to find a stolen recipe that takes him to our world, where he tangles with a pirate. The SpongeBob movie features all the voices from the TV show, along with Antonio Banderas and Frankie Muniz. You don't need me to tell you, if your kids are fans of the tv show - and whose kids aren't? - they're going to love this movie. It is pretty cute, and the 3-D animation is really cool-looking.

Seventh Son

Next, Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges star in Seventh Son. Bridges plays the seventh son of a seventh son - a knight who protects the world from witches and other things that go bump in the night. He's trying to train an apprentice to take over for him, but a dangerous witch - played by Julianne Moore - is out to seek her revenge on Bridges for imprisoning her in the past. There was a lot of potential for this movie - it's based on a popular series of fantasy books - but this one doesn't quite work. It's pretty predictable, and surprisingly, Moore and Bridges don't have a lot of chemistry, which could have made this a much better movie than it actually is.

Jupiter Ascending

Finally, Jupiter Ascending is the latest from Andy and Lana Wachowski, the directing-writing team who also made The Matrix and Cloud Atlas. Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum star as ... well ... honestly, I'm still confused by the plot of this one. Kunis is a broke house-cleaner who's actually the chosen one that will somehow bring balance to the cosmos ... and Tatum is a genetically-engineered hunter who has to bring her back to another planet ... for something ... yeah. This one is very cool-looking, but the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense. So if you were hoping for the next Matrix movie ... this isn't it. Jupiter Ascending also stars Oscar-nominee Eddie Redmayne, and it is in I-Max, but I say skip it, it is not worth your time this weekend.
