GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Santa Claus Parade is just days away. Parade organizers are still looking for volunteers to line the parade route and keep people safe.

Organizers said these roles are especially important because for the first time, the parade will be at night. Also new this year, right after the parade Grand Rapids will host its Christmas Tree Lighting.

"We have moved the parade to coincide with the tree lighting, to make the holiday experience and kick off just one big, spectacular event in downtown, Grand Rapids, it makes perfect sense for Santa to come from the North Pole and straight to the big, giant tree in Rosa Park Circle," said Audrey Kawel, a member of the Santa Parade team.

The parade starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Michigan and Division and ending at Rosa Parks Circle.

Shortly after the parade, the tree lighting will take place at Rosa Parks Circle at 5:30.
