GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Workers at Frederik Meijer Gardens are getting ready for one of its longest-running seasonal displays.
The "Mums at Meijer Gardens" annual display is returning for its 26th year on Oct. 1 and if you visit now, you can see the preparation for the month-long event on full display.
Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park Senior Vice President Steve LaWarre told 13 ON YOUR SIDE he is getting excited for the metamorphosis the gardens undergo from summer to fall.
"What you're seeing now is thousands of plants being changed over for fall, chrysanthemums and grasses and kale and cabbage and beautiful pumpkins and gourds. And the team in here is setting up a live wall in the seasonal room. It's just all sorts of great things to see. There's pumpkin and gourd-filled cornucopias and just all sorts of great fall decor, fall ideas. It's 'Mums at Meijer Gardens,'" LaWarre said.

And every Tuesday during October, the gardens will be hosting "Autumn At Meijer Gardens," which includes a range of events and activities.
"I'm excited about Tuesday night. So every Tuesday night in October, we've got fall autumn nights at Meijer Gardens, and we have food trucks and live music, great food, great entertainment," said LaWarre. "We've got games to play out in the horse plaza. It's just gonna be a lot of fun those Tuesday evenings."
