GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — If you're looking to get your hands on some early holiday gifts, more than 60 artists will have handmade goods for you to grab this weekend.
The Michigan Made Market will be held at the Goei Center in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
Jewelry, artwork and even clothing will be available from local Michigan artists throughout the day.
Co-Founders of the market, Alisson and Mike Barker, said the event is a fun outing for all families.
"It's for sure a kid-friendly environment. We will have a food truck there and a couple indoor food vendors," said Alisson.
Alisson encouraged people to come by to grab some lunch and get their holiday shopping done. She said she believes all products will make great gifts this season
"These gifts that are created by people, made with their hands, they're so unique and perfect for people on your list that you, you want to give something meaningful that'll last a long time, and at the same time, it gets to support small businesses," said Alisson.
Mike said the event is also a great opportunity for people to connect with local vendors, and for those vendors to connect with each other.
"I love, personally, talking to the makers," he said. "I love to see when all the makers are connecting with shoppers, connecting with people that maybe didn't know what they were coming to expect, but then they have this connection."
Alisson echoed Mike's sentiment, saying many of these makers have Instagram accounts and online shops, and the market is a unique opportunity for them to all meet up and sell their products in person.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission is 5 dollars for adults and kids under 15 get in free.
