COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — As you walk from the parking lot at Dwight Lydell Park to Mill Creek Days, it might be the first thing to catch your eye. A small arena in the middle of the park takes you back in time as reenactors in vintage costumes perform for the crowds.

"This is history, and history is almost sometimes joked upon as being a boring subject in school, memorizing dates and people and presidents, but having people come out here and having us represent a very important aspect of human history and human society, and seeing them get excited about it, it's so invigorating, and it's so encouraging," said Jerry Berg who founded the Swordsmanship Museum and Academy in Comstock Park.

"We go to so many different events across the Midwest, across Michigan, that we have something going on almost every weekend. Check us out on Facebook to see what our upcoming events are. Check out our website to see what our upcoming classes are. And we teach our classes, not just at our location in Comstock Park, but also Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Holland, and we're looking to grow to even more places too."

The Renaissance Faire will continue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aside from that, Mill Creek Days will include a full slate of events on Saturday, including a 5K and 10K run, a parade that begins at noon on West River Drive, a beer tent that opens at 1 p.m., and a duck race beginning at 4 p.m.
