ROCKFORD, Mich. — The streets of downtown Rockford were packed with people of all ages on Friday night as the city's Start of Summer Celebration kicked into high gear. Many streets are blocked off to traffic, allowing pedestrians to enjoy street food, vendors, and live music.
From 10 Mile Road, you can see the carnival, which is what brought Harper VanBeekon, Chloe O'Dowd, and Jenna Brand down from Cedar Springs. They say the Start of Summer Celebration offers rides you don't often find at other festivals.
The Start of Summer Celebration kicked off on Thursday and it continues through Sunday.
Saturday's events will feature a parade that will make its way down Main Street before turning on Courtland Street and continuing back north on Monroe Street. There will also be fireworks, a fire truck pull, frog and turtle races, and the Rockford Rotary Big Daddy Duck Race at the Rockford Dam.
You can find a full schedule of events on the Rockford Chamber of Commerce website.
