GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Walmart is hosting a free wellness event nationwide on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including at Grand Rapids area stores.
In a press release, the company said it's hosting the Wellness Day to help customers save money and live better in 2020 as the superstore chain is on a mission to help customers avoid the flu.
The store will provide low-cost and free health services including:
- Low-cost flu shots and immunizations
- Free health screenings: total cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, BMI and vision (at locations with a vision center)
- Giveaways
- Wellness demos
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), over 170 million doses of the flu shot have been distributed across the county as flu levels have been high and continue to increase.
Michigan has a low flu activity level, according to the CDC's 2019-2020 map that has recorded the illness across the country until Dec. 28, 2019.
Walmart has hosted its Wellness Day since 2014 and has provided free and low-cost health services to over 4.4 million customers.
