LIST | The scariest haunted attractions across West Michigan

There are options for every thrill-seeker this fall—whether you want to get lost in a haunted corn maze or hunt for ghosts in a haunted mansion.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It may still feel like summer outside, but Halloween is around the corner and haunted attractions are getting ready to open their doors!

West Michigan is home to some iconic haunts that are sure to give you a scare. There are also several historic sites that will be opening for paranormal experiences and ghost hunts, if you're hoping to find some evidence of your own.

Many of these haunts officially open in October, but some are kicking off early for special Friday the 13th haunts or to get a jumpstart on spooky season.

Here are the haunts you can find in West Michigan:

Kent County

  • Abandoned Acres Farm in Sparta
    • This attraction offers two different corn mazes that takes fear-seekers face-to-face with witches, scarecrows, serial killers and more. Each maze is over a quarter mile long and includes actors, animatronics and special effects.
    • Opens on Friday, Sept. 27
  • Grand Rapids Ghost Tour
    • Learn about the history of Grand Rapids and the spirits that may still be lurking with this tour hosted by U.S. Ghost Adventures. The tour takes about an hour and covers a one-mile stretch.
    • Tours held nightly
  • Moonlight Manor in Wyoming
    • For the first time since 2021, Moonlight Manor is returning to Wyoming! The haunt, which is outdoors, has both props and actors to spook you as you make your way through. 
    • Dates have yet to be announced
  • The Haunt in Wyoming
    • The classic haunted house is back for its 24th year! Haunted house enthusiasts will remember The Haunt's distinct themes, from an abandoned hospital to a circus full of terrifying clowns.
    • Opens on Friday, Sept. 27 and runs for 19 nights
  • The Haunted Forest in Belmont
    • The Haunted Forest at Cannonsburg Ski Area will take you on a half-mile trek through the woods—complete with witches, zombies and monsters ready to scare you.
    • Opens on Friday, Oct. 11 and runs for nine nights

Muskegon County

  • Haunted Hall in Fruitport
    • Held at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds, the haunt has both chilling setups and actors waiting to give you a scare.
    • Open on Fridays and Saturdays in October
  • SS Milwaukee Clipper tours in Muskegon
    • The 120-year-old SS Milwaukee is rumored to be haunted. Now, the ship will be decked out for Halloween and open for tours so you can see for yourself.
    • Tours run every Friday and Saturday in October
  • Trail of Terror in Holton
    • A stroll through the woods becomes a nightmare at this haunt, complete with props and actors lurking around corners.
    • Open on Oct. 18, Oct. 19, Oct. 25 and Oct. 26

Allegan County

  • Witches of New Salem in Dorr
    • While New Salem offers daytime activities, the grounds turn up the fear factor at night! There are two haunted trails through the woods, a spooky corn maze and even a light show.
    • Opens Saturday, Sept. 28
  • Felt Mansion tours
    • The Felt Mansion, which is considered one of the most haunted attractions in Michigan, is offering its annual paranormal events! Learn about the mansion and its history before a self-guided tour during Hauntings and History Nights. New this year, you can meet professional ghost hunters and tag along on an investigation.
    • Select days in October

Oceana County

  • Haunted Acres in Stony Lake
    • A variety of attractions span this 10-acre property. See how you fare in the corn maze full of creatures waiting for you, or try the classic haunt built in the ruins of a barn. There will also be food vendors and other activities.
    • Open Sept. 13, Sept. 28 and every Saturday in October
