GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Before Hozier dazzled a packed Van Andel Arena with his folk vocals and guitar, he had an important appointment.
The Humane Society of West Michigan thought of the perfect way to socialize some of their puppies by bringing them to see Hozier and his crew before their performance Wednesday night.
"...everyone got a boost of serotonin from some puppy playtime! Thank you again for this amazing day," the Humane Society shared on Facebook.
Andrew John Hozier-Bryne, who goes by Hozier, is an alternative and indie artist known for songs like "Take Me to Church," "Work Song" and "Would That I." He's also worked with songwriters like Noah Kahan on the song "Northern Attitude."
Hozier shared the spotlight Wednesday night with Allison Russell, a Canadian pop musician with hit songs like "Nightflyer" and "The Returner." Prior to her solo career, she was part of groups like Birds of Chicago and Po' Girl.
Hozier is scheduled to play another soldout show at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan on Friday, May 31.
Hozier just celebrated his first #1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with "Too Sweet."
He's the first Irish artist to complete that feat in 34 years. The last Irish artist to do so was Sinéad O'Connor with "Nothing Compares 2 U" in 1990.
