KALAMAZOO, Mich. — KP Cinemas has announced that on November 10 the shuttered 10-screen theater complex in downtown Kalamazoo will reopen.
The theater has been vacant since October 2020 and was originally built by Rave Motion Pictures. Most recently, the theater operated as AMC Portage Street 10.
Work to reopen the theater began in June of this year. That work included upgrades such as the installation of all-new projection equipment.
Now, the theater is set to reopen as "KP Cinemas," offering all stadium and all recliner seating, an extended hot-food menu and a full bar.
“We’re excited to bring the big-screen back to Downtown Kalamazoo” explains Josh Ward, a partner in the project with 10 years of movie theater experience. "Kalamazoo is currently underserved by the number of theaters available to moviegoers. With KP Cinemas, we have the opportunity to provide a first-class moviegoing experience that is central to the Greater Kalamazoo area."
While the theater will open in November, more is to come in the summer of 2024 when they plan to launch two Premium Large Format screens with extra-large screens, clear bright projection and immersive audio experiences.
