GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A group of educators is using their vocal talents to send a positive message about education, teachers and students.

Staff Notes GR is composed of 20 singers, several of whom work for Grand Rapids Public Schools. Everyone in the group currently works in public education or previously worked in the sector.

In honor of Black History Month, Staff Notes GR will be putting on a concert at the Listening Room inside Studio Park on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

According to a press release from GRPS, the group originally started over the holidays. After a performance on local television, the group received requests for performances and formalized near the end of 2018.

Staff Notes has performed at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, opened for the Grand Rapids Symphony Holiday Pops, and many other local and statewide performances. Many Staff Notes members had the opportunity to sing with Bobby McFerrin at the 2020 Michigan Music Conference at DeVos Performance Hall.

The group is working on a holiday EP to be released in December 2020. Find updates about Staff Notes GR on their Facebook and Instagram.
