MUSKEGON, Mich. — An exhibit highlighting iconic Detroit artists is coming to Muskegon next week.
Called Visions: 16 Detroit Artists, the exhibit features a variety of artwork created by Detroit-based artists, from photography to murals to photorealism paintings. The exhibit aims to showcase the unique perspectives from the Detroit art community.
Dr. Hubert Massey curated the artwork. He is best known for his public murals which can be seen throughout Detroit and the entirety of Michigan. In West Michigan, one of his murals is on the VanDyk Mortgage Convention Center in Muskegon.

- Henry Heading
- Michael Horner
- Sydney James
- Richard Lewis
- Dr. Hubert Massey
- Nivek Monet
- Carole Morriseau
- Vernard Rubens
- Ackeem Salmon
- Shirley Woodson
Visions: 16 Detroit Artists opens at the Muskegon Museum of Art on Thursday, Jan. 18 and can be seen through Sunday, April 28.
An opening reception will be held Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by a panel including six of the featured artists at 6 p.m. A presentation on public art in Muskegon will also be held at the museum on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m.
