SANDUSKY, Ohio — The latest edition to Cedar Point's roller coaster roster will close for an extended period, the park said in a social media post Sunday.
The Top Thrill 2, which opened alongside the park's 2024 season, closed during the weekend to allow mechanical modifications to the coaster's vehicles, the park said. Modifications will be completed by the coaster's manufacturer, Zamperla.
Once the modification is complete, Cedar Point said it, alongside Zamperla and a third-party ride inspection partner, would conduct a review of the ride to approve both the modification and Top Thrill 2's reopening.
Cedar Point said the length of the closure was unknown, but they would provide updates on their website.
"We will do everything possible to reopen Top Thrill 2 as soon as we are confident we can deliver the ride experience that our guests deserve," Cedar Point said in the social media post.
Top Thrill 2 occupies the former site of the Top Thrill Dragster. Cedar Point announced earlier this year the ride would enforce a policy preventing riders from bringing loose articles, like cell phones or keys, onto the ride. Additionally, riders cannot wear flip flops or other loose shoes onto the ride, Cedar Point said.
