MUSKEGON, Mich. — Starting a new school year is full of nerves and jitters, regardless of age.

So, we sat down with a group of kindergarteners and high school seniors from Reeths-Puffer as they embarked on their first and last start of the school year.

The seniors were full of nervous excitement to be rounding out such a critical chapter of their lives and enjoying all the excitement that comes along with their senior year. Mentioning homecoming games, theater performances and time with friends.

Some had a clear map of what the future had in store for them, many mentioning two years at Muskegon Community College, while others will spend the year figuring out what adulthood could bring.

When asked what advice they would give to their younger selves, they said to accept yourself, be proud of yourself and be kind to others.

The kindergartners were all smiles to start off the school year, full of laughter and joy to be back with friends, learn about new topics and, of course, go to recess. They had big dreams to be doctors, firefighters, construction workers and astronauts.

When asked what advice they would give adults, they said to love themselves, give love to others and help people when they are hurt.
