GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There is never a shortage of fun in West Michigan! From aeronautical events at the Air Zoo, winter wine festivals on the lakeshore and Valentine's Day getaways -- there is something for everyone.

Open Cockpit Month at the Air Zoo
Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday in February, Air Zoo guests are invited to sit in the cockpits of some of the most famous aircraft in history. Don’t miss this amazing chance to “climb behind the stick” and get a true “pilot’s eye view” of history! The Open Cockpit Experience is free with paid admission to the zoo and it's a really cool photo opportunity. The Air Zoo is location at 6151 Portage Rd. in Portage (near Kalamazoo).
Lake Michigan Shore Winter Wine Festival
Winter is still hanging on, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. The Lake Michigan Shore Winter Wine Festival is happened Saturday, Feb. 29 from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Holland Civic Center, located at 150 W 8th St. There will be samples of wines from 15 wineries, including St. Julian Winery, Hickory Creek Winery and more, across the state in one warm location. Tickers are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, admission includes tasting glass and 10 tasting tickets. VIP tickets are $40 (online only) and admission includes tasting glass, 10 tasting tickets, and a food and wine pairing session.
Lakeshore Restaurant Week: Muskegon
Beginning Friday, Feb. 21 through Saturday, Feb. 29, Muskegon area restaurants will be offering special discounts, special menu and drink items. So far, 15 restaurants are participating including SE4SONS Gastropub,The Mill, RAD DADS' Tacos and Tequila Bar and more.
Valentine’s Day Getaway: Hotel Frankfort
Escape to the Hotel Frankfort for a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend. Hotel Frankfort is just over 2 hours north of Grand Rapids on the shores of Lake Michigan and on Friday, Feb. 14 they will be hosting a Valentine's 5-course wine dinner. The 87-year-old boutique hotel has 17 guest rooms with private baths and has sites like the Point Betsie Lighthouse, St. Ambrose Cellars, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and the vineyard on the Leelanau Peninsula very close by.
Theses events and many others are featured in the new 2020 West Michigan Travel Guide, released by West Michigan Tourist Association each year. The travel guide features maps, campgrounds, wineries, breweries, distilleries, agri-tourism locations, boating, history, golf and more. The guide can be requested for free from the WMTA website -- it can be mailed or delivered digitally based on your preferences.
