GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Frankenmuth is the place to be to immerse yourself in German traditions.
But, if you can't get out of town and take the 2 and a half hour trip -- there is a way to get a little taste of Michigan's Little Bavaria right here in West Michigan.
The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is hosting their Christmas and Holiday Traditions exhibition. This year, visitors can take in the glow of more that 300,000 lights, strolling carolers, rooftop reindeer and 46 international trees and displays. The theme this is is the Signs of the Season, where the Meijer Gardens will share the meaning behind of of the world's more iconic symbols.
Meijer Gardens focuses on the "authenticity of the symbols of beloved holiday traditions," including the Germany tree which adorned with handmade glass ornaments and homemade springerle cookies; the England tree with antique Christmas cards and mistletoe; and the Eid ul-Fitr display, which celebrates the end of Ramadan.
The trees are on display from Nov. 26 through Jan. 5. Meijer Gardens is closed on Nov. 28, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
