GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — We have yet to peak in Michigan from the coronavirus, the good news is that it's not too late to boost your immunity for some added protection from the virus.
Dr. Tammy Born from the Born Clinic has some tips on how to boost your immune system during this pandemic.
1. Diet – eat healthily. Eating healthy means staying away from empty calories like sugar and processed foods. Stick with fresh fruits, vegetable diets, and lean meats. Additionally, stay away from foods that increase mucus production, like dairy products.
2. Nutritional Supplements – Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and Zinc. All three have significant evidence for improving immune function. Dr. Born also favors a high-quality multivitamin and supplements like echinacea and elderberry.
3. Lifestyle– focus on exercise, stress reductions, social interaction with your loved ones, and sleep. Try not to have information overload. Be thankful and create a homecoming routine.
4. Nutritional IV’s – used for prevention. Eg. High Dose Vitamin C.
