HAPPY Deals: Shop local for mom this Mother's Day

Emily Richett shares some great businesses to shop from this Mother’s Day to support local and make moms feel celebrated.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mothers everywhere deserve to be celebrated, and local businesses are helping make Mother’s Day extra special, even if traditional plans have to be adjusted this year.

Emily Richett shares some great businesses to shop from this Mother’s Day to support local and make moms feel celebrated.

Flowers
Local florists are closed for in-person shopping, but there are plenty of options available to order ahead of time.

Eastern Floral is a great option for online Mother’s Day orders offering contact-free delivery and a range of fresh flowers, planter sets, and unique bouquets. They have locations in Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, and Holland.

Located in Breton Village, Southside Flower Market is also taking Mother’s Day orders for bouquets, available for curbside pickup and delivery. Posh Petals is another local florist taking online orders and offering curbside pickup and local delivery.

Local Eats
Looking for food that’s fresh and ready to eat on Mother’s Day? The Mitten Brewing Co. is taking phone orders (and payments) on Sundays from 2-9 PM, which you can pick up in their parking lot.

Several local restaurants are offering meals to “take and bake” for Mother’s Day, like Amore Trattoria Italiana, a local favorite for its authentic, homestyle Italian food. You can find a Mother’s Day menu on their Facebook page along with how to order - note that the deadline to order is Wednesday, May 6, to pick food up on May 8-9, as Amore is closed on Mother’s Day.

Grand Rapids native, Steve Brechting (AKA Chef Brech), is offering dinner for four for Mother’s Day, including side dishes and dessert! On his catering website, you can choose between pickup and delivery between noon and 3 PM on Sunday, May 10.

Craft Beverages
Don’t forget about beverages, from hard cider to her favorite wine. Vander Mill is taking online orders with pick-up windows on Saturdays. Besides cider, you can order merchandise, donuts, and pizza kits to prepare at home.

Art of the Table is another great choice for wine and treats to pair with it. They’re also offering Mother’s Day gift baskets available to shop, curbside pickup, or have delivered.

Meaningful Gifts
Lee & Birch is offering Mother's Day gift sets in themes like “Coastal Cutie” and “Me-Time Mom.” These sets include clothing, accessories, and fun treats like chocolates from Mokaya in Grand Rapids.

Women’s boutique Duffield Lane is offering adorable mom-and-me outfits, including pajamas, that are perfect for some at-home family mother’s day pics. Duffield Lane is located in East Grand Rapids and taking online orders.

For those feeling indecisive, Pack Elephant offers gift boxes full of goodies from small businesses owned and operated in Grand Rapids. The “Wakanda Mother’s Day” box comes with juice from Malamiah Juice Bar, cookies from Daddy’s Dough, and popcorn from Mosby’s Popcorn, among other treats.

Chasing Vanity Salon is offering a Mother’s Day Black Box for an ultimate mother’s self-care gift, featuring locally sourced items like Madcap coffee, spa related goodies, and Mokaya chocolate truffles. The deadline for pickup orders is Wednesday, May 6.

We hope your Mother’s Day is one to remember with some of these locally sourced gift ideas!
