Let it rain! Fun rainbow Earth Day experiment for kids

It's Earth Day and what better way to celebrate that with an experiment that turns raindrops into rainbows!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It's Earth Day and what better way to celebrate that with an experiment that turns raindrops into rainbows!

Val, Kirk and Catherine gave this fun Pinterest experiment a try, they had a few good laughs at the results. But it is one that will keep kids occupied for at least a little while.

SUPPLIES:

  1. Cooking oil
  2. Food coloring
  3. Two clear containers
  4. One spoon for stirring

 DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pour one cup of cooking oil into one of the clear containers, add several drops of each food coloring, stir gently. 
  2. Fill second clear container half way with water
  3. Pour oil with food coloring into water container
  4. Wait patiently for raindrops to form and slowly fall
