Andy O'Riley shares his top September events happening in the Muskegon area.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — If you're looking for things to do in the Muskegon area this September, look no further!

Andy O’Riley from Positively Muskegon gives a rundown of all kinds of events coming to the area that you don’t want to miss!

September 1 - 2 
Cars for Cancer: 15 years strong now and a HUGE car show!  Located at Mercy Health Lakes Village off US 31 in Norton Shores. Miles of cars, car enthusiasts, elephant ears music, auction items.  It all benefits the Johnson Center for Cancer Care in Muskegon.

September 6 
The United Way of Muskegon Presents the Day of Caring.  26 Years strong.  Businesses and Individuals set aside a day to work on things that need doing around town.  This year, one major focus will be Johnny O Harris Park in Muskegon Heights.  There will be a major clean up and restoration.  Volunteers will also be helping with some homes for Veterans who could use things done that they just can’t get to themselves.  It’s an amazing outpouring of good in Muskegon.  If you’d like to help, visit https://www.unitedwaylakeshore.org/

September 7
Sportsmen for Youth Day at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds!  100% free event for kids and families which is designed to get them away from the computers for a day and out into the great outdoors. Fishing demonstrations, police and fire on hand with demonstrations, vendors, free lunch for kids, free shirts for kids, swag bags and more.  Meet pro fishermen Mark Martin, catch their own trout, learn about hunting safety and more! Roosevelt Park Day – Taste of the Trucks.  Roosevelt Park surrounds the community center with food trucks to try great dishes of all kinds.  BBQ, Pizza, desserts, unique and fun things to eat complimented by vendors, crafters, live music with the Mona Shores Fiddlers, Country Current Yard Sale Underwear.  Lot’s of fun for kids with activities and games and Lewis Farms are bringing their candy cannon down to blast off at about 3:30 p.m. and of course the music goes well into the evening with the beer tent and more food!

September 12 - 15
The Michigan Irish Music Festival at Heritage Landing.  It’s a celebration of all things Irish and a great way to experience the tastes and sounds of Ireland.  Music, dancing, food, games, maybe some limericks.  It’s become one of the biggest Irish festivals in the country, so make sure you come out for a little blarney and enjoy the sights and sounds.  

September 21
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Heritage Landing.  It’s a huge day to raise fund and awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease.  This year Andy O’Riley was asked to be the spokesmen for the organization and we’d like to direct your attention to Muskegonchannel.com to see our series with Kelly DeVos who’s father is caught up in Alzheimer’s and hear first hand how devastating this disease is on everyone!
