GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The library is becoming a key player in connecting library and community resources focused on adult education, career exploration, job obtainment, professional development and entrepreneurship. We asked Outreach Specialists Sara Magnuson and Shea Johnson to explain two new KDL programs:
Career Online High School – a new online high school diploma program, currently offering 25 scholarships. Patrons complete the coursework at their own pace, they complete traditional courses in addition to industry specific training for which they will earn a certificate. Contact: cohs@kdl.org
Career Skills Training – a new free online skills training program accessible via the KDL website with a KDL card. Patrons can earn certifications for the coursework they complete. Courses available include: Digital Literacy, Basic Math, Math for Careers, Soft Skills and Adult Literacy. Industry specific courses will be available soon and we are working on developing relationships to connect patrons to internship opportunities and employment in those fields. Contact: workforce@kdl.org
